In this 2-day FERS training course students will improve their retirement outlook by obtaining important information early in their career. Learn how to optimize the contributions to your tax-deferred Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) retirement savings and investment account, and information related to the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) defined benefit and the contributory retirement account. Learn how Social Security benefits are calculated. Learn how your health, life insurance, and other benefits carry over into retirement. Explore TSP Funds, Lifecycle Funds and different Asset Allocation Strategies.

  • Identify your retirement income needs and develop a basic understanding of developing an appropriate financial plan.
  • Determine when you are eligible to retire.
  • Understand how your basic annuity will be computed and what benefits will be payable to your survivors.
  • Identify and calculate Social Security benefits.
