Course Description
This WarU (formerly DAU)-equivalent five-day intensive course equips acquisition professionals with the skills to critically analyze contractor proposals through hands-on cost and price analysis. Participants will work directly with authentic contractual documents to identify, interpret, and correct real-world errors. Through guided exercises and collaborative problem-solving, learners will deepen their understanding of pricing strategies and improve the clarity and precision of their written communications—skills essential for effective contract negotiation and administration.
Learning Objectives
- Analyze and execute technical, cost, and price analyses that lead to the development of formally written Technical Analysis and Pre-Negotiation Memorandum that will result in a successfully negotiated modification
- Gain a clear understanding of the individual roles and responsibilities within the proposal analysis and negotiation team, as well as how the team functions together
- Evaluate data to create a technical analysis report
- Interpret a technical analysis report and recognize when more is needed
- Perform a cost/price analysis to determine adequate market tools
- Document the technical and cost/price analysis in a pre-negotiation memorandum, to understand the appropriate level of analysis required for the level of effort
