The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, commonly referred to as OSDBU, makes yearly trips to each of their missions to educate, encourage, and promote agency goaling for small business utilization. With COVID-19 making travel unsafe, the OSDBU office decided to take this year’s educational tour and make it virtual. This pivot allowed USAID missions worldwide to take training and make their goals on schedule.
To train their team before the start of the fiscal year, we created a 1 hour webinar to walk employees through the small business contracting lifecycle. The webinar can be taken on demand at their own pace.

The BMRA and OSDBU team worked together to build a course based on agency goals and input from Contracting Officers and Program Staff. What they ended up with was a 1 hour, asynchronous training that walks students through three of the most important areas of small business utilization: market research, subcontracting and the AIDAR (U.S. Agency for International Development Acquisition Regulation).
The course was designed in Articulate Storyline, a software that allows us to completely customize the look and feel of training. The final result was not only a course that looked good, but also engaged missions by allowing individuals to become an active participant in their learning.

This section will talk about how we both thought the 1hr was such a great training program that we decided to create a 6hr training program.
